CAROLINA GOES GOLD: Carolina Herrera’s inner circle knows she can hold her own when it comes to being witty. So naturally, the designer was in her element creating three customized gowns for Golden Globes cohost Tina Fey. The pair started collaborating a few months ago, when Fey was presented with sketches before she and Herrera decided on their three favorites. Four fittings later — including one last one by a Herrera insider who flew to Los Angeles to ensure every last detail was right — and Fey was good to go.

For Sunday’s red-carpet step-and-repeats, the comedian wore a fuchsia and black jacquard column gown with a pleated overskirt by Herrera. By the time she took to the stage for her opening monologue, Fey had changed into a double-faced burgundy georgette V-neck gown with crystal beading. And before saying good night to the show’s 20.9 million viewers — a 10-year ratings high for the NBC awards show — the former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” star showed off her third Herrera gown — a strapless fuchsia silk faille gown with velvet accents and a bustle.

Whether Herrera, who dressed Fey for the 2002 Oscars, will have a repeat performance at the 86th Academy Awards on March 2 remains a question mark.
