APPOINTED: The Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana (CFMI), which controls Pitti Immagine and Ente Moda Italia, among other exhibitions, has elected Andrea Cavicchi as president for the period 2015-2017. Cavicchi was previously vice president of CFMI, which also co-founded the Florence-based fashion school Polimoda.
Cavicchi, who owns textile company Furpile Idea and is president of the Industrial Association of Prato, vice president of Confindustria Toscana and a member of the committee of Sistema Moda Italia, succeeds Stefano Ricci, who has held the position since 2012.
“My commitment will be to strengthen the weight, importance and the image of Florence and the territory that sustains the system of national and international fashion,” said Cavicchi. He said this will be achieved by “starting obviously from exhibitions and promotional activities, where the great success of Pitti Immagine, Ente Moda Italia has a growing role, but also paying great attention to the world of education and culture.”
