OUT AND ABOUT: Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel and their devotees will continue to rack up the air miles in 2015: The French fashion house plans to stage fashion shows this year in New York, Rome and Seoul, WWD has learned.
On March 31, Chanel will reprise its Paris-Salzburg show, held in an 18th century palace in Austria last month, in New York for clients and press. Deliveries of this Métiers d’arts collection, a pre-fall range embellished by the specialty couture ateliers Chanel owns, start in May.
In an interview, Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion, also disclosed the location for its cruise show on May 4: the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, or DDP, a futuristic development designed by architect Zaha Hadid and Samoo.
The DDP was the venue for the Culture Chanel exhibition last fall entitled “The Sense of Places.”
Finally, Lagerfeld chose the Eternal City for his next Métiers d’arts collection, scheduled for Dec. 1. Chanel has also traveled to Dallas and Edinburgh for recent Métiers d’art shows, which spotlight cities linked to the fashion house’s history.
