BEHIND-THE-SCENES AT LOUBOUTIN: U.K. broadcaster Channel 4 will give its viewers a glimpse into Christian Louboutin’s world this week, when it airs “Christian Louboutin: The World’s Most Luxurious Shoes.” The hour-long, one-off documentary sees director Michael Waldman observe the French shoe designer as he builds his global business — over the course of Paris Fashion Week; during a trip to the Himalayas; as he meets with celebrity clients in Mumbai and at his factory in Milan, all the time accompanied by his butler Safquat.

The film also charts Louboutin expanding his business into new markets in Asia, and designing a collection to be handcrafted from wood in the Himalayas. Waldman described following Louboutin as “a real eye-opener, revealing a charming but demanding perfectionist at the center of a fascinating empire.” Channel 4 bills the documentary, which has been made by Brook Lapping Productions, as offering “not only an insight into the business of luxury shoes, but the changing tides of wealth and power across the globe.” The documentary airs on Channel 4 Tuesday at 9 p.m.
