CHARITABLE TEARS: E-tailer Yoox has teamed up with artist Francesco Vezzoli to launch an initiative supporting the area in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region hit by the earthquake in May. Vezzoli has created a limited edition artwork, called “Con amore, Francesco Vezzoli (Francesco by Francesco),” available in 399 numbered and signed pieces, which will be sold for 399 euros, or $517 at current exchange rates, exclusively on starting Wednesday. All proceeds will be donated to FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), the Italian National Trust, to restore the City Hall of Finale Emilia, the earthquake’s epicenter.

“I was born in Ravenna and Bologna is home to Yoox Group. After the tragedy of the earthquake I thought of a unique and unrepeatable way to help the people of those areas, which are so important to me,” said Yoox founder and chief executive officer Federico Marchetti.

In keeping with Vezzoli’s style, the work consists of a portrait by photographer Francesco Scavullo of the artist shedding two large, dark tears and a glitter fuchsia dedication by Vezzoli, reading “Con Amore, Francesco Vezzoli” (“With love, Francesco Vezzoli,” in English.) Each piece comes with a baroque silver frame.
