A French stamp designed by Christian Lacroix

LACROIX’S STAMP OF APPROVAL: To coincide with the 10th anniversary of the National Center of Stage Costume in Moulins, France, the museum’s honorary president Christian Lacroix has designed a postage stamp.

The creation features the museum’s building and colorful, swirling clouds. Priced at 0.80 euros, or $0.87 at current exchange, it will be available exclusively on April 8 at the museum as well as the postal service’s “Le Carré d’Encre” store in Paris before being sold in all post offices in France starting April 11.

Lacroix is due to present his creation at the museum on April 9, coinciding with the opening of an exhibit called “Barockissimo! Les Arts Florissants on Stage,” which will kick off the 10th-anniversary celebrations.

Lacroix is behind the design of the museum’s Café-Brasserie restaurant and organized an exhibit there in 2012 dedicated to the costumes he conceived for the ballet “La Source,” which was staged at the Opéra National de Paris in 2011. Most recently, Lacroix designed costumes for “Otello,” to be performed in Salzburg in March, as reported.

He already conceived a stamp in 2001 as part of French postal service’s annual Valentine’s Day “Heart” collection.
