FACE TO FACE: Founded as Optical Affairs in New York in 1984, Christian Roth celebrates its 30th anniversary in 21st-century style. Partners Christian Roth and Eric Domege are transitioning what they do best, one on one consultation, to an online platform through a Skype with the Designers feature on their Web site.

“Customers really appreciate our opinions about which frames to wear during trunk shows, so we thought why not offer this same level of personal service to those who can’t physically visit stores?” said Roth, from their part-time Miami Beach residence. “Plus our focus is mainly in growing our site’s e-commerce versus wholesale business especially after being too saturated when we were owned by the Charmant Group.”

For the big celebration, they designed two styles of sunglasses exclusively available on their site. Power Plug and Rock Study have seamless, high-gloss acetate frames with titanium temples and enamel embellishment. The fall collection also introduces a trio of new frames including Opposites Attract whose octagonal lenses have a floating effect, Fly Girl cat eye in offbeat color combinations and neon accents, and Pop Power 2 with kaleidoscope-inspired circles along its bold front and temples.        

They’ll add optical eyewear by year’s end.
