And so it was a stylish same-sex wedding on Saturday when Christophe Girard, mayor of the 4th arrondissement of Paris and strategy director at LVMH Fashion Group, married his longtime partner, the filmmaker Olivier Meyrou. Anne Hidalgo, a candidate for Paris mayor in next year’s elections, presided over the ceremony, surely the first for a politician since the law passed last month.

Guests included designer Kenzo Takada, actress Anouk Aimée, consultant Jean-Jacques Picart and news anchor Claire Chazal. In lieu of rings, the men exchanged red necklaces by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel realized in 1997.
