Canadian model and now designer Coco Rocha breezed into Asia as global ambassador for Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky. The first stop was Manila, where she launched the worldwide #LoveScotch campaign, which is part of an international tour designed to promote Scotch whisky as a drink women as well as men can enjoy.
Rocha checked into the Peninsula hotel in Makati wearing an ensemble from her own line, CO+CO, after an 18-hour flight from New York. She had a full day shooting a fashion video that was to be shown later that evening, wearing once again, pieces from her own line. At the launch, she made a grand entrance at Revel, the hottest club at the moment in Manila, wearing a silk taffeta strapless gown in a tartan plaid print that mimicked the Johnny Walker plaid.
She cohosted the #LoveScotch launch together with local Philippine celebrity and reality show star Raymond Gutierrez and professed her love for Scotch. Her favorite Scotch-based cocktail, she revealed, was a ginger whisky, made with Johnnie Walker and ginger ale. She was introduced to Scotch as a young child, she said, thanks to her father’s own collection.
After Manila, Rocha headed to India, where she celebrated World Whisky Day on May 21 at another event at the Shangri-La Hotel Bangalore, playing bartender even as she mixed drinks for Bollywood celebrities such as Mandira Bedi and Randeep Hooda. Rocha remained faithful to the Johnnie Walker tartan theme, this time pairing a black sleeveless V-neck top with a full tartan-plaid floor-length skirt. The same motif appears in the special limited edition Johnnie Walker Black Label bottle created especially for World Whisky Day and the #LoveScotch campaign.
