BANANA’S EXPECTING: Coco Rocha’s daughter is due in the summer, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t already thinking about the baby’s wardrobe — a fitting preoccupation for a model, wouldn’t you say. “I’m so obsessed with the adorable baby clothes my friend @marissa webb [Banana Republic’s creative director] just gave me. Little person clothes, not yet in stores,” she Instagrammed. Rocha was referring to Banana Republic Mini, a collection of Lilliputian styles with a grown-up edge — think onesies with a skull and crossbones montif. The collection will bow on February 18 at the retailer’s store in Manhattan’s Flatiron District and on BananaRepublic.com on February 25. Banana’s first line for babies will consist of cozy clothing and accessories such as fisherman’s sweaters, French terry sweatshirts, sweat pants and soft knit separates in sizes 0 to 12 months. There’s also a 100 percent cashmere blanket and knit hats for boys and girls. “I began to notice that many of my friends are expecting, and I want to give them a very personal gift,” said Webb, adding that the pieces bring a dose of fashion to play time. Webb didn’t sentimentalize or pander to the convention of overly cute styles in pink and blue. Rather, Banana Mini has a color palatte of shades of light and medium gray and black, with prices from $24.00 for knit jumper to $198.00 for the cashmere blanket.
