CARNIVAL CAPERS: Will fashion festivals be the next Glastonbury? To mark its 15th anniversary, hip Paris boutique Colette is planning a carnival for the weekend of March 10-11, to be held in a tent located in Paris’ Jardin des Tuileries. Around fifty international brands are expected to participate in the event, including Carven, Hudson, Kenzo, Olympia Le-Tan, Uniqlo and Lacoste. Repetto, Nike and Disney will hold dance and music classes for kids; Fred Perry will install ping-pong tables; and Nike a basketball playground. Beauty bar and massage booths are going to be set up by Minx, Violent Lips Tattoo and Maison Francis Kurkdjian, among others, while accessories designer Yazbukey and W Hotel will co-host an ice cream cart.

Among other anniversary celebrations, Colette on Feb. 29 will inaugurate an exhibition of 150 playful portraits of personalities from the fashion, music, design, photography and web arenas by New York-based Australian artist Craig Redman. Known for his Darcel cartoon character resembling a black egg on legs with a giant central eyeball, Redman for the show has “Darcelized” the likes of Coco Chanel, Emmanuelle Alt, Bill Cunningham and Jeremy Scott.
