KEEPING COZY: Cooper & Ella, the contemporary brand launched by Kara Mendelsohn in 2013 known for its colorful, accessibly priced tops and dresses, will add a capsule collection of knitwear to its repertoire for fall. Mendelsohn said that buyers had been encouraging her to expand the line. “I designed [the knits] around things that I knew were trending, like lace and metallics,” she said. “They make sense with the rest of the collection… We offer something special, not basic.” The five sweater styles, offered in black and white, range from $225 to $250 and will hit stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s as well as the brand’s e-commerce site in September. As with the rest of the Cooper + Ella collection, a hot, nutritious meal is provided to a child in need with every sweater sold.
