COVER REVEAL: DknyPRGirl, also known as Donna Karan International senior vice president of global communications Aliza Licht, has taken her career and social-media learnings and written her first book, “Leave Your Mark.” The 288-page “mentorship,” as Licht calls it, doesn’t come out until May (it’s available for preorder now on barnesandnoble.com and Amazon.co.uk), but she revealed the cover exclusively to WWD. Instead of a photo of herself on the cover, Licht opted for a coffee cup affixed with red lipstick, her signature. “The coffee cup exemplifies work — the working person. Every day of my life, I look down at my cup and there [are] red lips on it. If there is an icon that represents me, that would be it,” she said, adding that the book is also her way of grabbing coffee with people.
The book is divided into four sections — “Land Your Dream Job,” “Kill It in Your Career,” “Rock Social Media” and “Creating the Brand of You” — with a foreword by Donna Karan. “If I were writing the book 10 years ago, the idea of personal branding was what people called your reputation. With the advent of social media, people can now really amplify their own personal messages in a way that no one was ever able to do before. I deep-dive into how to do that,” Licht said.
