GREEN PASTURES: London designer Craig Green is teaming with Björn Borg’s activewear label on a capsule collection of men’s, women’s and unisex clothing that will make its official debut during Stockholm Fashion Week next month.

A few pieces from the collection, including the quilted unisex ponchos, were on display at the London Collections: Men exhibition at Victoria House in Bloomsbury.

In Stockholm, the designer is planning to do a presentation that features lots of fresh soil, a tree house and live models walking around in the looks.

This marks the first time Green has designed women’s wear, and the collection bears his utilitarian, military signature.

Prices range from 75 pounds, or $110, for a rugby shirt to 320 pounds, or $467, for the hooded, quilted poncho.

The collection will be sold at Björn Borg standalone stores and about 15 to 20 other retailers in Europe. Looks include padded trousers for men and women, performance running tights and a lightweight technical raincoat with drawstring details.

“The collaboration is kind of looking at the classical sportswear heritage of the brand, with me putting my own kind of twist on what they do,” Green said backstage before his London show.

Designing women’s wear came naturally, Green added. “I think a lot of the shapes I’ve been doing over the years kind of work good on men and women. A lot of the things are kind of oversize and can be cinched in so the shape can change, you can make it looser. The idea is to have a multifunctional garment for both men and women that isn’t really gender-specific,” he said.
