MALEFICENT MARKETING: Disney’s evil queen is getting some new jewels. Walt Disney Pictures has tapped Crow’s Nest to create a collection of fine jewelry inspired by the upcoming film, “Maleficient.” The seven-piece collection includes statement rings, bracelets and an ear cuff, done in rhodium with black diamonds, red and yellow sapphires, onyx and tsavorite. “Working with Disney is like a dream come true,” said Daniel Belevitch, founder and creative director of Crow’s Nest. “[The collection] is dramatic and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. It’s fierce.” The collection will be available in May to coincide with the film’s release. The jewels also mark the second fashion-driven marketing push for the Disney picture; last month the Mouse House announced that Stella McCartney would create a children’s clothing line also inspired by the film. And, with over a month until the Angelina Jolie vehicle hits theaters, the potential for additional partnerships is still open as ever.
