MILAN — Italian jeweler Damiani and Microsoft have teamed up for a limited-edition custom cover of Microsoft’s new smartphone Lumia 950, which will be sold in an exclusive dedicated packaging.
Taking inspiration from Damiani’s D.Side collection, the white leather cover is embellished with two concentric rose gold rings, in which 10 brilliant cut diamonds are embedded. The black leather cover follows the same design in white gold. To ensure the phone’s exclusivity, each cover also features a plate in white or rose gold, engraved with the number of the limited edition from 1 to 99.
“The collaboration with Damiani is the celebration of excellence, creativity and design, Damiani jewelry and Microsoft technology,” said Carlo Purassanta, chief executive officer of Microsoft Italy.
Available in Damiani’s Rome and Milan boutiques, with the other Italian stores to follow shortly, the Lumia 950 will retail for 1,950 euros, or about $2,137 at current exchange. Part of the purchase is also an after-sales service for customers to return the cover to the store in exchange for a pendant from the D.Side collection.
“We are so particularly proud to offer our customers a phone that has the ability to turn into a jewel for life as well a an after sales service dedicated to our partner for clients that buy the smartphone,” said Giorgio Damiani, vice president of the Damiani Group.
