DEEN DROPPED AT WAL-MART: It’s been a rough week for Paula Deen. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Wednesday it has cut its ties with Deen, a week after the Southern celebrity chef admitted to using racial slurs in the past. The retailer said it will not place “any new orders beyond what’s already committed.” It added that it “will work with suppliers to address existing inventories and agreements.”

Wal-Mart has carried Paula Deen-branded products at all of its U.S. namesake stores since 2011. The product range includes cookware, skillets, cake pans, towel holders, dinnerware and cutlery.

The latest development follows Food Network’s decision to drop her food shows. Smithfield Foods said it was also dropping her as a spokeswoman.

Deen gave a tearful interview to Matt Lauer on the “Today” show Wednesday morning, apologizing to her viewers and fans, which obviously didn’t do much for her business deals.
