DEREK LAM TARGETS JAPAN: Derek Lam International LLC has signed a distribution agreement with Itochu, which will have exclusive rights to the Derek Lam and Derek Lam 10 Crosby collections in Japan. Lam’s collection has been sold in Japan for 10 years, and according to the label’s chief executive officer Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, the country is the company’s second biggest market after the U.S. “We still see major opportunities for growth,” said Schlottmann. Itochu works more than 150 brands, including Paul Smith, Lanvin, Nina Ricci and Vivienne Westwood. It will take over Lam’s Japanese distribution beginning with the fall-winter 2015 season.
