STUDENTS WANTED: Derek Lam will offer some words of wisdom, when Parsons The New School for Design hosts next month’s “Fashion Campus NYC.” The intensive two-day workshop gets going July 15 at the school’s Greenwich Village campus and is geared for students pursuing summer internships. This inaugural event is an offshoot of Mayor Bloomberg’s FashionNYC2020, a yearlong analysis of the challenges facing the city’s fashion industry. Parsons executive dean Joel Towers said the school’s new partnership will further the mayor’s plan to fortify the fashion industry over the next ten years.

Lam won’t be on the only big name on campus. Parsons’ dean of fashion Simon Collins will moderate a “Backstage Pass” chat with successful newbies, and leading industry executives will be on hand for the “Ready-to-Work” networking brunch. The free program will also give students the chance to map out a game plan at “A Tailored Approach” — breakout sessions with career services executives.
