HELLO DOLLY: Forty-four dolls created by designers are in the UNICEF initiative known as Les Frimousses (or Little Faces), now in its twelfth edition.
Lingerie brand Maison Lejaby and leather goods label Louis Quatorze are among first-timers and join fashion houses including Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel and Chantal Thomass.
A total of 85 pieces are being conceived.
Opera singer Natalie Dessay and ballet dancer Nicolas Le Riche are the ambassadors of the new edition, which has an opera theme.
The dolls are to be on dpsilay at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet from Nov. 18 to 23 and then go under the hammer during an auction on Nov. 24 at Artcurial.
The reserve price for each little toy is 700 euros, or $873 at current exchange. UNICEF is to distribute funds raised from the sale to help vaccinate children in Sudan’s Darfur region.
