HEADING NORTH: Suzanne Rogers has lined up Diane von Furstenberg for the fourth edition of her signature fashion event in Toronto.
The chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America will be up north in early May for “Suzanne Rogers Presents Diane von Furstenberg.” Proceeds from the event will benefit the Covenant House “Just Like a Girl You Know” campaign as well as other vital children’s charities.
Started in 2010, Suzanne Rogers Presents has honored such designers as Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa and Zac Posen in years past. To date, the event has helped to raise $2.5 million to support children’s charities, to help fight children’s poverty and strengthen a spectrum of health and education programs.
The designer’s multitiered career and her philanthropic efforts will be showcased in a detailed retrospective at the afternoon gathering, which will also include a seated luncheon and live entertainment. Rogers will share the hosting duties with the event’s chairwoman, Sylvia Mantella.
Von Furstenberg said, “I am looking forward to coming to this luncheon. Suzanne and I share a commitment to improving the lives of women and children around the world, and I’m humbled to be able to support such a phenomenal cause.”
Rogers said, “This event will provide such a unique, intimate opportunity to hear so iconic and influential a figure as Diane share her journey as an entrepreneur, an esteemed leader within the fashion world and a tireless humanitarian. I am so delighted that Diane has accepted the invitation to come to Toronto, and deeply appreciate her personal commitment and generosity.”
