WHAT A PAIR: Maria Grazia Chiuri ended her long collaboration with Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino to become Dior’s new artistic director of women’s haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessory collections. She is to show her first collection here on Sept. 30, for the spring 2017 ready-to-wear season.

But she’s not leaving everyone behind. Word has it Chiuri is arriving at the French house with two longtime associates in accessories design in tow: Cristiana Mentrasti and Raul Capuccini. They both joined Valentino in 2008, according to their LinkedIn profiles.

Mentrasti also worked at Roberto Cavalli and at Fendi, where Chiuri and Piccioli made their reputation as its accessories mavens. Piccioli was named Valentino’s sole creative director in the wake of Chiuri’s exit.
