Dior opened its first freestanding store in Atlanta today at The Shops Buckhead. The women’s boutique carries ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, jewelry and accessories. It is designed to reflect the Peter Marino interior of Dior’s Avenue Montaigne flagship.

“Buckhead is one of the most affluent communities in the Southern region of the United States,” said Renaud de Lesquen, president of Christian Dior Couture and Parfums Christian Dior for North America. “And with the opening of The Shops Buckhead, a new level of sophistication and global luxury has been introduced to the city of Atlanta, making this the perfect time and location for Dior to open a women’s boutique.”

The Atlanta store brings Dior’s U.S. freestanding boutique count to 18. Within Atlanta, the Dior collection is stocked at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Jeffrey.

The opening of the Atlanta store follows the unveiling of a Dior store in San Francisco in April. The U.S. is one of the strongest markets for Dior, which last week reported a 30.2 percent decline in operating profits for the first half of the year as a result of lower tourism in France. But U.S. sales rose 12 percent at constant exchange rates in the first half.
