DIOR CRUISES TO BROOKLYN: Feb. 8, 2014 goes down in fashion history as the day Alexander Wang broke outer-borough limits and got the industry to trek to Brooklyn for his fall show. Feb. 9, 2014 goes down as the day that no one could stop moaning about the experience getting to and from Brooklyn. And yet after all that bellyaching the Brooklyn Navy Yard still lives as a fashion show venue. None other than the venerable house of Christian Dior has chosen the Navy Yard as the site of its cruise 2015 fashion show on May 7 at 6:30 p.m.

“We wanted the show to feel very New York, and the Navy Yard’s view and space captures the city,” said a spokeswoman for Dior. In order to avoid the traffic snafus that left many Wang attendees gridlocked, Dior is putting the cruise back in cruise by providing round-trip, door-to-door car and ferry service. Cars will drop off at the ferry docks at 34th Street and the FDR Drive, and boats will shuttle guests to the venue’s front door; and vice versa postshow. Specific transportation instructions will accompany invitations to the show.
