Los Angeles-based eyewear company DITA Group has acquired luxury brand Christian Roth.
Christian Roth and his design partner Eric Domege, who founded the brand in New York in 1984, will both remain as creative directors. Their first post-acquisition collection will be presented at the Silmo show in 2016. The addition of Christian Roth rounds out the company’s portfolio, which includes the Dita brand, designed by founders John Juniper and Jeff Solorio, and the licenses for Thom Browne and Dita Von Teese eyewear. Dita has retail boutiques in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Newport Beach.
“We’ve been looking for another brand and I’ve been courting Christian and Eric for two years,” said DITA Group chief executive officer Mickey Dillon. “They are fashion mavericks like us and it’s a brand that always pushes the envelope. I think with their European style and their years of experience, they’ll bring a lot to the table.”
Dillon noted that the company is no longer in acquisition mode as it is also readying the launch of two more brands — a super-high-end line launching at MIDO next year that will retail for between $900 and $2,500 and a lower-priced brand that will retail between $180 to $280 that they will roll out in three years.
“There’s not a lot in that space now with new lens technology so we are starting to develop our own,” Dillon said.
