TALENT SEARCH: The Dubai Mall and Vogue Italia will host the first edition of “Who is on Next? Dubai” during the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience, which starts Oct. 29 in Dubai.
The two-day event, organized by Emaar Properties and the Italian fashion magazine with the support of the Dubai Design & Fashion Council, will feature events aimed at increasing the visibility of Dubai as an international fashion destination.
Along with a series of fashion discussions, the program will include a special edition of the emerging-talent competition dedicated to women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories designers from the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Finalists will compete for prizes, like the chance to show their collections at Pitti Uomo, Altaroma and the Vogue Talents event in Milan, as well as an opportunity to sell their wares at temporary stores in the Dubai Mall and online at Yoox.com. Winners will be selected by a jury including Vogue Italia editor in chief Franca Sozzani, Carlo Capasa, Raffaello Napoleone, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Federico Marchetti, Salama Alabbar, Christopher Bailey, Christian Louboutin, Nez Gebreel, Noura Binzagr, Naomi Campbell, Seda Domaniç, Hanneli Rupert and Priya Tanna.
In addition, Vogue Italia chose a group of emerging international and local designers who will unveil their collections in a runway show held at the Dubai Mall. Sozzani said the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience has gained international attention because of Dubai’s growing status as a new fashion capital, and “also to support and encourage next generation of fashion talent.”
Last year, the event attracted more than a million visitors and the charity dinner hosted by Vogue Italia and Emaar Properties raised about $1.1 million, which was donated to the United Nations’ World Food Programme.
