EDGY EYES: London-based Boudicca — Zowie Broach and Brian Kirkby’s cerebral, independent fashion label with an emphasis on androgyny and tailoring — has never “forced” category expansion, said Broach. Since launching as an artistic project in 1997, its founders have slowly and steadily built the women’s wear brand into one driven by their own staunch philosophies, not by commerce. (The duo launched a single fragrance, Wode, in 2008.) “It can’t be formulaic for us,” Broach said, of branching out. “It has to happen organically with the right partner.” That would explain its latest collaboration with eyewear brand Morgenthal Frederics, whose past collaborations include a 25-piece eyewear collection for Maybach. It is Boudicca’s first venture into the category.

Each pair in the limited-edition collection was hand-carved from Morgenthal Frederics’ signature buffalo horn in Germany. Only 10 pairs of each of the two styles were produced, offered in both black-and-white color variations, totaling 40 pieces. The Morgenthal Frederics for Boudicca collection will hit retailers today.
