Celebrities like nothing more than a shopping party, especially when said shopping actually means “free stuff.” So Emma Roberts, Kristen Bell, Lea Michele, Rashida Jones, Marla Sokoloff, Minnie Driver and Olivia Culpo were among the actresses who turned out for a spring shopping soirée last week at the Beverly Hills home of The A List founder Ashlee Margolis. To be fair, Margolis, a Los Angeles native who happens to own a fashion branding company, also goes way back to grade school and high school with many of the famous faces.
“Ashlee has been my friend for 25 years and her house is such a great environment for parties because guests feel super comfortable and at home. Her place just reflects her personality: comfortable, stylish and entertaining,” Jones said.
And a little swag, or “celebrity seeding” never hurt an actress or a brand. In fact, quite the opposite. Alexandra Shipp, Ashley Hinshaw, Baylee and Kelsey Soles, Becca Tobin, Ebeonee Davis, Eliza Dushku, Jessica Stroup, Kaitlin Doubleday, Kelly Oxford and Lindsay Sloane were yet more actresses present who checked out wares from two of Margolis’ clients, both Los Angeles apparel giants which recently lost their founders — Vince Camuto and Michael Stars. The new Vince Camuto Imagine footwear collection, a special occasion range, and some vacation- and festival-ready Michael Stars pieces were among the goodies, plus Caudalie beauty products and customized Iconery jewelry.
A few actresses even have the good sense to decline or return products they know they won’t use, or those that end up not fitting. Bell has made trips to return gifts in person so someone else may benefit from The A List’s largesse — an uncommon move and something that other bold-faced names could learn a thing or two from.
