LONDON — Fashion East, the London incubator for emerging designers, has named the three labels it will showcase at London Fashion Week in February.
They are Ed Marler, a graduate of Central Saint Martins’ BA in women’s wear, who returns to Fashion East for a second season; Caitlin Price, a graduate of the Central Saint Martins master’s program; and Mary Benson, a graduate of the University of Westminster’s BA program in fashion design.
Fashion East will also introduce a new format. While in previous seasons, all three designers have shown as part of a group show, Marler will stage a salon show, while Price and Benson will put on static presentations. All three collections will be on show within the same venue — London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts — at 7.30 p.m. on Feb. 20.
Lulu Kennedy, Fashion East’s founder and director, said the presentations would “really draw guests into [the designers’] world.” “The team and our panel all feel strongly that young designers need to showcase their collections in a way that suits them best,” Kennedy said.
The Fashion East program has supported designers including Simone Rocha, Jonathan Saunders, Roksanda Ilincic and Marques’ Almeida in the past, and the fall-winter 2015 season will mark its 12th year of being supported by Topshop.
