FAST MOVER: Thierry Mugler has a new, fast-moving hero for its A*Men men’s scent. Owned by Groupe Clarins, the brand has tapped South African double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius as the new face of the fragrance, which was the first perfume for men created by Thierry Mugler in 1996. Known as “Blade Runner,” Pistorius, who at 25 is a triple world record holder and triple Paralympic champion in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, appears in a commercial and video campaign for the scent directed by Ali Mahdavi in which he can be seen sprinting clutching a bottle of A*Men. Pistorius’ thighs and carbon fiber artificial limbs come coated in a futuristic chrome cladding designed by Thierry Mugler and Stefano Canulli. The campaign will roll out worldwide next month as a 15- and 30-second film for digital media only and as a single- and double-page print campaign.

SELLING FASHION DOWN THE RIVERS: Joan and Melissa Rivers made their first New York Fashion Week appearance at Elie Tahari on Wednesday and saw plenty of amusing things in the runway spectacle. “The comedy is when you see a hungry model slip,” Joan Rivers said. Asked if she’s ever paraded down the runway, she didn’t miss a beat. “I did already, for Overeaters Anonymous, and Mothers-without-Spanx,” she said.

Sitting next to Melissa Rivers, comedienne Nasim Pedrad mused on her recurring role as Kim Kardashian on “Saturday Night Live.” “It’s definitely fun to be Kim,” Pedrad offered. “I particularly like the butt prosthetic that I have to wear.”

LAST TIME: Longtime Issey Miyake protégé Dai Fujiwara will present his swan-song collection for the house during Paris Fashion Week in March. Miyake president Masakatsu Nagatani said Fujiwara will then step down from his role as creative director, with an in-house Fujiwara-trained team of designers due to take the reins. Details of the team will be unveiled in April. Fujiwara will accompany them through to the spring 2012 collections. Founder Miyake will also continue to supervise the collections.

NEW DIGS: JF & Son’s Jesse Finkelstein and Katie King have moved uptown from their old Lower East Side boutique with a new spot at 56 University Place and 10th Street. “We wanted to reach a broader customer range and expose more people to our design philosophy,” explained King. “[Being] close to Union Square is the ideal location.” The designers, who are also launching a home collection, celebrated with a store party on Thursday night with a performance by New York-based band Mirror Mirror.

FUN WITH FASHION: Gemma Kahng will appear on Joe Zee’s new reality show, “All on the Line,” which premieres on the Sundance Channel on March 29. In the episode, Zee convinces Kahng to include some of the signature tailored jackets that made her a success in the Nineties. The result led him to arrange for Kahng to meet with Kirna Zabête owners Sarah Easley and Beth Buccini, who picked up the collection exclusively for fall. Kahng said the experience allowed her to have fun with fashion again, spurring her to launch a high-end contemporary line, called Gemma by Gemma, which she introduced at fashion week.
