AMERICAN PIE: Dior is beefing up management in the U.S. with one of its key European deputies, WWD has learned. The French fashion house has named Augustin de Buffevent as executive vice president of Christian Dior Inc. He starts Oct. 1 and reports to Pamela Baxter, who recently was named president of Dior’s U.S. arm, in addition to her role as president of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s Perfume and Cosmetics Group. De Buffevent has been general manager of Dior U.K. since 2005.

SITTING PRETTY: At Emilio Pucci on Thursday, model Trish Goff wasn’t strutting on the runway. “I’m just a guest, but I feel I know everyone here. I’m running around saying hi left and right,” said Goff, who revealed one big project up her sleeve: a skin care line. She said it was too early to discuss details, but hinted that it’s “with someone I know who is in this business.”

GET SHORTY: Christina Ricci may have been in Milan to launch CK’s new makeup and fashion lines, but the actress also found time during her one-night stay to meet up with some other designers. Ricci wouldn’t say exactly who, but she named Anna Molinari and Blumarine among her current favorites. “I am really, really into Anna Molinari. I’m a short girl and I like to wear short dresses, I just love to look pretty,” she explained. Ricci said she was on a career break prior to the release of her films “Penelope” in November and “Speed Racer” in January.

ROYAL TIME: Balmain has been busy entertaining its royal connections for Paris Fashion Week. The house hosted a dinner for the Thai royal family at the Opera Garnier on Saturday night, following a fashion show by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana. The Thai princess attended the Balmain show the next day in the grand ballroom of the Westin hotel. Also in the front row, Philippe Starck confirmed he’s been tapped to renovate the Royal Monceau hotel, starting in April. “It will represent all that is good about modern French design: luxurious, balanced and a little bit sexy,” he said. Artist Peter Beard also grabbed some of the fashion action, camera in hand, having been in town for the Cubism exhibition at the Picasso museum. “Being here reminds me of when I brought Khadija to do Yves Saint Laurent in the Eighties,” said Beard, who’s been working on elephant collages in his uncle’s house in Cassis.

ECO DISCO: Now even disco’s going green. Models Jessica Stam and Carmen Kass are to host a teaser for a new eco-friendly nightclub to open in New York. The event will take place Wednesday at the trendy Parisian nightspot Le Baron. Dubbed “The Greenhouse,” the soon-to-be-opened Stateside club, whose location is being kept a secret, will be fitted with energy-saving disco bulbs and recycled tables to dance on.

GOING DUTCH: Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren will have a special guest at their Paris runway show on Tuesday — their new managing director. A fashion newbie, Joost van Vollenhoven joins Viktor & Rolf from consumer products giant Unilever.

LET THEM EAT CAKE: Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola will be hooking up for some more French folly during Paris Fashion Week, this time for the launch of the fifth edition of the British biannual magazine, Lula, guest edited by Dunst. An “intimate” cocktail for the event will be held by Chanel at its salon on Rue Cambon, on the eve of its show Friday. The house also has reason to celebrate as Dunst sports a peach pleated dress from its cruise collection on the magazine’s cover.

HEAVY DINNER: Josie Natori, the Wall Street investment banker-turned-lingerie designer, will mark 30 years of creating naughty little nothings on Nov. 1 with several of the retail world’s most powerful men: William Dillard 2nd of Dillard’s Department Stores, Michael Gould of Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s Inc.’s Terry Lundgren, Peter Nordstrom of Nordstrom, Stephen I. Sadove of Saks Fifth Avenue and Burt Tansky of Neiman Marcus. Natori and her husband, Kenneth, will throw a dinner for 90 at La Grenouille to “just have a good time,” she said. “A book titled “The Art of Natori” (Rizzoli, 2007) will be handed out to guests. Natori will also do book signings Oct. 16 at Bergdorf Goodman and Oct. 18 at the Rizzoli bookstore. She’ll also receive the Humanitarian Award from The Fashion Group on Oct. 25 at Cipriani.

The Natoris got a jump-start on their 30th anniversary festivities in May, when they hosted dinners for executives from Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Dillard’s at their Manhattan home. Last month, they again threw open their apartment for a dinner for 40 to celebrate her 10-page spread in Elle Decor’s October Glamour issue. Elle Decor editor Margaret Russell and Calvin Tsai, who oversaw the seven-year renovation of Natori’s home, hosted the event. Guests marveled at the designer’s well-organized and well-edited closet. The reason was partly because they were looking at Natori’s “winter” closet; another one with summer clothes was down the hall.

POLICE SQUAD: Maybe it was because he had just stepped out of a stadium, where he jammed for nearly 80,000 fans Saturday night in Paris, that Sting (the rocker-cum rugger) had sports on his mind. “I’m for Ireland,” he said, during his after party at the VIP nightclub on the Champs-Elysées, referring to the Rugby World Cup match Sunday between Ireland and Argentina. “I used to live there.” At the soiree, the good sport and his wife, Trudie Styler, posed for snapshots with fans, as did the other members of The Police — Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland.

HEART HELD: While some people wear their hearts on their sleeves, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac prefers to wear it on his shoulder. The iconic French designer has teamed up with Canon to design a limited edition of white evening handbags with a red heart embroidery, entire proceeds of which will be donated to the Red Cross. “I drew a heart because it is the universal symbol of sharing and generosity,” said Castelbajac, Thursday night at the Galerie W in Paris, where an exhibit of his photographs and dresses imprinted with his snapshots are on display until Oct. 14. The handbags, which retail for 100 euros, or $138 at current exchange, are available at the Galerie W, in the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac store and at the Galeries Lafayette.
