FIFTH AVENUE FORAY: Vancouver-based retailer Aritzia will this fall open a 12,000-square-foot flagship at 600 Fifth Avenue and 49th Street in Rockefeller Center. It will be Aritzia’s second unit in Manhattan and its biggest store in the world. That title is now held by the 10,000-square-foot SoHo store, also in New York, which opened in June 2011. Aritzia designs a portfolio of private label brands such as Wilfred Free, a casual lifestyle brand and the edgy A Moveable Feast.

Aritzia stores have themes with design elements such as sculpture and artwork. The Fifth Avenue flagship’s interior design concept will revolve around a metaphysical theme inspired by natural phenomena. Also in the fall, Aritzia will launch online shopping at to extend its offerings to North American consumers.
