FRENCH DRESSING: The French fashion train continues to roll into Los Angeles, with Vanessa Bruno as the latest designer making a stop in town to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her Melrose Avenue boutique. On Tuesday night she hosted a dinner at Lucques for her Fall 2010 ad campaign model and short film star Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson, Molly Sims, Mena Suvari and other fans and on Wednesday she took private appointments at her store. “It was nice to meet a lot of stylish L.A. girls,” she said. “It takes time to get to know each market and each customer.” During her five-day stay, Bruno also plans to vintage shop and go to the Rose Bowl flea market for inspiration. Her Spring 2012 collection was based on Provencale quilts and Liberty prints, but the designer said she’s always on the prowl for “beautiful handmade pieces and workmanship that you can’t find anymore.” Of Bruno’s 35 worldwide boutiques, the newest are Madrid, which opened last week, and Cannes, opening next month. New York is on her list, but she hasn’t yet decided on a neighborhood, saying, “I’m still organizing things.”
