GIRL POWER: For International Women’s Day on March 8, nine French corporate foundations, including several from the fashion and beauty space, have partnered for the first time to bring attention to situations facing women around the world.
“We Are Women,” a project spearheaded by the Elle Foundation’s chief representative Karine Guldemann, is a series of 11 short documentaries directed by Nils Tavernier and produced by Imagissime. They will be broadcast on French state television channels as well as online between March 5 and 13.
Each film features the portrait of a different woman, highlighting her story and the impact one of the nine foundations has had on her life. The women featured come from China, Cameroon, Senegal, Nicaragua, the U.S., Ethiopia, France, Cambodia and Brazil, and each has been helped by the actions of one of the nine foundations’ commitment to subjects such as improving maternal health, fighting violence against women, encouraging their economic empowerment and promoting access to education and rights.
The nine foundations involved are Kering Corporate Foundation, Air France Foundation, Chanel Corporate Foundation, Elle Foundation, Orange Foundation, Raja-Danièle Marcovici’s Foundation, Sanofi Espoir Corporate Foundation, the Sisley-d’Ornano Foundation and the Solidarity Accorhotels Fund.
