SNOW STAR: Seemingly oblivious to the snow falling over Milan, Hailee Steinfeld arrived at the Max Mara show in a springlike peach-colored coat and cream chiffon dress. But the Los Angeles-based actress said she relishes a cold snap.

“I am a huge fan of snow only because I don’t see it often, so when I do, I’m definitely like a little kid in a candy store. I get really excited,” she said.

The “True Grit” star is the recipient of the 2013 Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award, whose past winners include Chloë Grace Moretz, Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana and Katie Holmes.

At a dinner hosted by the Maramotti family at Da Giacomo Bistro on Wednesday night, Steinfeld recalled that the big, heavy coat she wore through much of “True Grit” helped her get into her character, and the pioneer period depicted.

Her latest role, playing the estranged daughter to Kevin Costner’s character in “Three Days to Kill,” was much more suited to the teenage actress. “I didn’t mind wearing jeans and a T-shirt for three months,” she laughed, noting her character lives in Paris and is a takes-the-Metro type.
