Jean Paul Gaultier has just received word he will pick up a prize at the new Kylie Minogue-hosted AmfAR event in New York on June 3. He will receive an Inspiration Award for his lifetime contribution to men’s fashion and the fight against AIDS. Meanwhile, for those who have wondered what a Gaultier residence might look like, Parisians will soon find out: Elle Decoration magazine has given the couturier carte blanche to appoint a 2,000-square-foot apartment atop the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine museum. It will be unveiled in May and reflect the designer’s eclectic, irreverent sensibility. This won’t be the first time Gaultier has done home objects, having collaborated with France’s VIA in 1992 to produce items like the Roman chariot-style armchairs dotting the lobby of his Paris headquarters.
