ARCHITECTURAL ADORNMENTS: Georg Jensen has teamed with Zaha Hadid on a jewelry line that will be unveiled at Baselworld, the big Swiss watch and jewelry show, on Wednesday.
Hadid has also designed an installation that will be used as a lounge in the Hall of Visions at the international show. “This installation is inspired by my jewelry collection with Georg Jensen,” Hadid said. “It is referenced by the coherence and beauty of natural systems, and informed by the fluidity of my own architectural language.”
Inspired by Beijing’s Wangjing Soho Complex, a recent project she has designed, Hadid created jewelry that resembles an “interweaving mountain.” The Zaha Hadid for Georg Jensen eight-piece capsule collection includes rings and cuff bangles designed in sterling silver. Some are made from silver-plated black rhodium set with black diamonds.
Prices range from $500 to $25,000. The collection will be sold at Georg Jensen boutiques including the London flagship store on Mount Street, which opened last fall.

“Working with Georg Jensen presented an opportunity to express our ideas in different scales and through different media,” Hadid said.
“Our starting point was the Danish house’s design links to nature. There is an inherent integrity within the organic structural logic found in nature and we often look at the coherence of natural systems when we work to create environments. Our challenge was to translate that into something that can be worn; to reinterpret the rich history and tradition of Georg Jensen’s design approach into something new,” she said.
