Giacomo Canessa, who founded luxury knitwear label Malo in 1972 with his brother Alfredo, is back at the helm of the company.

Malo, which in the last decade went through various financial difficulties, was acquired last year by a private investment fund, which bought the company from Tuscan luxury retail group Evanthe.

Canessa now oversees the business and commercial development of the brand, which is designed by an in-house team. The first collection under the new course, which is characterized by the introduction of the ZZ stitch inspired by the brand’s archives, is currently being wholesaled out of the firm’s Milanese showroom and will be presented to the press in March.

Last summer Malo opened three new flagships — one in Saint Tropez and two in Moscow. The brand also has stores across Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Japan, Korea and the U.S.
