GRACE’S NEXT ACT: Grace MMXIII, the label launched by Saturday Group founders Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson with a capsule lineup of cocktail dresses for fall 2014, has a more laid-back, languid feel for spring. During a walkthrough of the line in their Shoreditch showroom in London Tuesday, Grede described the label’s first collection as “too classic…too boned in. [Spring] is so much more easy,” he said. The lineup spotlights pieces such as sequined Tuxedo jackets; draped mini dresses in metallic jersey and a tuxedo jumpsuit with a sequined, camisole top. The collection also includes looks that are becoming staples of the label, such as the off-the-shoulder Adriana dress, which for spring comes in black stretch satin with macramé details. The label is pitched as evening-worthy pieces at a contemporary level, with retail prices for the designs starting at $235 for a dress and rising to $685 for the sequined jacket. For fall, the collection will be sold at retailers including Net-a-porter, Intermix, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, Harvey Nichols in London and Beymen in Turkey. And while the duo has already expanded on their initial tightly edited collection of dresses, Torstensson said he could see the label going into accessories, too. As for showing in future seasons – Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Suki Waterhouse were among the buzz-worthy models who walked for label’s first presentation, at London’s Cafe Royal — Torstensson said they plan to “dip in and out” of showing the line, but would take a suitably glam approach to the runway. “We like a secret party,” said Torstensson. “After hours at Indochine in New York is very Grace.”
