Gucci is expected to announce on Wednesday the appointment of Alessandro Michele as creative director, succeeding Frida Giannini. WWD was the first to report on Jan. 10 that Michele was likely to take over Giannini’s role. Her early departure from the brand was first reported by WWD on Jan. 12. Michele, in his first appearance on the runway, took the bow at the Gucci men’s show on Monday afternoon, along with a dozen members of the house’s design team.
With the announcement, the Italian luxury group is slated to confirm Michele’s appointment to helm the design team.
Gucci officials declined to comment.
