GOLDEN TICKET: A magnificent couture gown by Guo Pei, incorporating traditional Chinese gold thread and requiring 50,000 hours of work, went on display at a Paris event Friday to raise the profile of China’s creative talent – and mark the fifth birthday of Chinese Vogue. Pei’s latest project is just as exciting: “I’m working with Jan de Bont (who directed “Speed” and “Twister”) to design costumes for a new movie shooting early November,” she enthused. Shi Jie and Uma Wang also showcased a dress. Wang said she plans to do hats inspired by some of her own vintage finds. “You don’t find vintage in China – people don’t like second hand clothes,” she noted. “I usually go to museums to do research and visit markets in London, Paris and New York.”
