HAND JIVE: Delfina Delettrez is not one to disappoint when it comes to her installations, as each contains a bit of magic.
Floating plates? No problem. Outlandish Marie Antoinette-esque wigs? Done. This season she awed with robotic arms that displayed her latest collection of jewelry entitled “Handroid,” which was all articulated rings.
“I have always been fascinated with the human body and its movement, so I wanted to show how the rings move on the fingers. And since they are diamonds, I wanted to push the game,” she said.
Displayed through the Almine Rech Gallery in Paris were a series of robotic arms on mirrored pedestals in pastel colors that Delfina said reminded her Japanese anime Doraemon. On the side of the pedestals was an internal glove in which guests could insert their hands and control the robotic arm and hands that were bedecked in the rings made mainly of platinum and white gold with diamonds.
