SHINE ON: “I’m such a magpie — I was like a kid in a sweet shop,” said model Portia Freeman, after she’d surveyed Swarovski’s new pop-up store inside Harrods’ windows in London on Tuesday night.
The jewelry boutique is part of Harrods’ Crystal Christmas collaboration with Swarovski. The crystal maker has partnered with the store to create glittering holiday windows in the style of a crystal forest, along with unique pieces that will be sold throughout Harrods.
During a cocktail to mark the opening, Nadja Swarovski noted that one of her favorite designs is the shimmering tulle and crystal gown that London-based bespoke label Ralph and Russo created for one of the windows.
“I think there must be over 152,000 Swarovski crystals on that dress, and it only cost 230,000 pounds!” said Swarovski with a smile.
After Harrods’ Christmas lights were switched on, guests including Zaha Hadid, Tallulah Harlech, Leah Weller, and the actress Olivia Grant made their way to a dinner at One Hyde Park, a new development across the street from the store. Weller, the daughter of Paul Weller, chatted about the album she’s recording, which she hopes will be released next year.
“My dad has definitely influenced me, but my music doesn’t sound like his.”
