HAUTE ON THE BEACH: Haute Hippie — the fast-growing brand specializing in what founder and creative director Trish Wescoat Pound calls comfortable and sexy “clothes to fly in” — has found its island hideaway, inking a deal to be the exclusive retailer at Chris Blackwell’s GoldenEye resort in Jamaica.
Chief executive officer Jesse Cole said the 500- to 700-foot store would be open for the start of high season in mid-November and would feature an exclusive capsule resort collection. GoldenEye was once home to Ian Fleming, who wrote all of his “James Bond” novels there, and has been an inspiration to others as well, including Sting, who wrote “Every Breath You Take” while vacationing there.
“Every time we’ve been there it’s been a celebrity hangout,” Cole said. “The three times we’ve been there, Kate Moss has been there.” Cole also spotted David Duchovny and Kid Rock at the resort. “It is a really exclusive place for the tastemakers and the innovators in that rock ’n’ roll set,” he said.
Just the set Haute Hippie is courting with its mix of T-shirts that cost $65 and gowns that run as high as $4,000.
