FLAT FOOTED: The classic Havaianas is getting a make-under. For summer, the footwear brand is introducing a “Flat” collection, a new take on the flip-flop which features a shorter — and “flatter” — strap. With a price point between $18 and $22, down from the typical $30 retail tag, the collection is positioned to attract a younger consumer than its core collection. “We see it as the new hip sister to our traditional Slim style,” said senior merchandise manager Tara Wessells. The product will be available in five different styles — solids with metallic straps, ombré, “print blocking,” animal prints, and plain solids — done in thirty color ways. Key attributes from the core collection are also incorporated, including the brand’s signature rice patterned sole. The collection will be available March 26, in-store and online at Kohl’s and PacSun, as well as at Havaianas’ own retail locations.
