FASHION FOR ACTION: On Thursday, Nov. 20, Housing Works’ 11th annual Fashion for Action benefit kicks off with a VIP shopping hour and reception. Supported by the fashion industry’s designers, the event is an exclusive designer sale with prices up to 70 percent off retail. This year’s co-chairs are Zac Posen and John Varvatos, who will be in attendance. All proceeds benefit Housing Works’ youth outreach programming which provides dedicated HIV-prevention and treatment services to young people living with HIV/AIDS, are at risk of infection or are homeless.
Among the over $1 million worth of donated new, high-end apparel and accessories are brands such as Louis Vuitton, Diesel, Kate Spade, Libertine, Michael Kors, Issey Miyake, Varvatos and Posen. Over 200 brands will be offered for sale.
VIP shopping begins at 5:30 p.m. (General Admission shopping is 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) at the newly renovated Housing Works Chelsea Thrift Shop at 143 West 17th Street. It will be followed by a reception, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The Rubin Museum of Art at 150 West 17th Street. Tickets are $150 and are available at housingworks.org/fashionforaction/.
