ICE BREAKER: Artist Yi Zhou knows a thing or two about Italy, having spent a chunk of her growing-up years in Rome. Now she will put her first-hand knowledge to use, designing a capsule collection of men’s and women’s wear for Iceberg called “Breaking the Ice — Iceberg by Yi Zhou.”
“Yi Zhou is a woman with contemporary taste, she’s effervescent and possesses a European sensitivity,” said Paolo Gerani, artistic director of the Iceberg brand, which is part of the Gilmar Group. “The idea comes from wanting to invert the current tendency to see the Chinese region only as a giant production machine. China can be so much more…this is proof that thoughts, ideas, inspiration can be stateless and that our industry, which is so tied to our territory, can speak any creative and constructive language.”

“The project is something new in my life, since I trained as a multimedia artist, now the challenge is to expand into my role as designer,” Zhou said.
The collection will make its debut at the end of June and will be unveiled for the first time at a multimedia event in Hong Kong.
