Iris Apfel continues to purvey her eccentric, nonagenarian taste wherever it applies. The New York-based style star will hold a trunk show of personal jewelry with One Kings Lane for the holiday season.
Beginning Tuesday at 11 a.m., Apfel’s various beaded necklaces, bangles, brooches, pendants and dramatic earrings will become available for sale. They are to be priced from $75 to $645.
Said Apfel of the tie-up with One Kings Lane: “This collection for One Kings Lane is fantastic; they are some of my super favorite conversation pieces. We chose these tribal and beaded pieces inspired and collected from my travels — I just have an eye for this kind of stuff. Whoever gets one of these is going to be the luckiest.”
One Kings Lane president Debbie Propst said: “We are thrilled to launch our third Tastemaker Tag Sale with Iris Apfel, someone who we as a brand admire for her unwavering individuality and incredible eye for style. For our upcoming sale, Iris has curated a selection of globally inspired and collectible costume jewelry from her archives, which will only be available on One Kings Lane. We are grateful to be a trusted partner for Iris, and look forward to continuing to offer our customers her one-of-a-kind finds through future sales.”
The partnership with One Kings Lane is another file in Apfel’s portfolio of enterprise. She continues to host in-person jewelry trunk shows at the Story boutique in Chelsea, Manhattan. Apfel has also tied with firms including MAC Cosmetics, HSN, Happy Socks and Macy’s. In addition to business projects, Apfel is a regular presence at New York events — and has recently been spotted at parties for firms including Cartier. In 2014 she was the subject of a documentary, “Iris,” directed by Albert Maysles (“Grey Gardens”), which received widespread critical acclaim.
In August, Apfel marked her 95th birthday.
