ISAAC’S ACCOLADES: Isaac Dabah, chief executive officer of Delta Galil Industries Inc., has been named Business Leader of the Year for 2014 by Calcalist, the Israeli business newspaper, in its annual rankings of ceos of 50 companies traded on the Israeli Stock Exchange. The ratings address four criteria — reliability, consideration of shareholders, performance and transparency — and are decided by a group of 100 analysts, underwriters, investment managers and business executives.

“We always find that the most successful executives are not necessarily those that appear in the headlines but those who perform their jobs quietly and bring value to their shareholders,” said Galit Chemi, editor in chief of Calcalist. “It is not surprising that we have found those companies that are characterized by steady management and a long-term strategy at the top of our list year after year, among them Delta Galil.”

Dabah, a longtime apparel executive who had been group ceo of The Jones Group Inc.’s jeans business, has served as Delta’s ceo for seven years and in that time has expanded sales and profits through acquisitions, such as Schiesser and Karen Neuburger; licensing arrangements and a focus on technical innovation in categories such as shapewear and activewear. Sales for 2014 are expected to exceed $1 billion, in line with average annual growth of 13 percent in sales and 34 percent in profits over the last five years.
