VENETIAN PASSAGE: It took Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney four days to celebrate their wedding in Venice, but bridal designer Isabelle Armstrong only needed a few hours to claim that one of her off-the-shoulder lace wedding gowns resembles the custom-made Oscar de la Renta one worn by Clooney’s better half.
Within hours of the big reveal — a.k.a. the much-anticipated release of the power couple’s wedding photos in People, Vogue and Hello magazines — the New York-based bridal designer publicist sent a “get-the-celebrity-look-for-less” e-mail highlighting the label’s Andreagown opposite an image of Alamuddin with de la Renta in his atelier.
Armstrong’s gown will retail for about $7,200 once it lands at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue stores Saturday. The creation was seven months in the making, according to the designer.
